Petit Verdot 2019

The 2019 Petit Verdot, Gold Medal winner in the 2022 Virginia Governor’s Cup competition, joins the distinguished 2014 and 2017 vintages as Gold Medal winners in this prestigious event. We’re honored to say that no Virginia winery has won more Governor’s Cup gold medals for Petit Verdot than DuCard.

This robust Petit Verdot exhibits notes of black fruits – plum, blackberry, and currant – as well as spice both on the nose and palate. With a lively acidity and well-structured tannins, this wine is sure to gratify even the most discerning palates.

The 2019 Petit Verdot is comprised of 75% estate grown Petit Verdot and 25% Cabernet Franc from our Whetstone Run vineyard. The wine was aged in new and neutral French oak barrels for 10 months.
