PHILANTHROPY

At DuCard we consider ourselves a part of the fabric of our local community, and support a wide range of local non-profits through donated auction items, private label wines for fundraising, use of our facilities, and other mechanisms.

We consider this an important part of our broader ‘sustainability’ responsibilities and are happy to play a role in helping these outstanding organizations fulfill their missions and provide important services to people in our community.

Montpelier Commemorative Wines

We have created limited edition James and Dolley Madison wines to honor and support our neighbors at Montpelier, the longtime home of the Madison’s and one of America’s great historical landmarks.

With portrait labels designed by local artist Trish Crowe, and including an engraved wooden display box, the James Madison Constitutional Red, a Bordeaux blend, and the Dolley Madison High Society White, honor the Father of the Constitution and America’s first First Lady – and make a great and unique gift.

A portion of the proceeds from this program is donated to the Montpelier Foundation to help continue their outstanding and important work in preserving Madison’s legacy.

$100 per two-bottle set. These wines are available at our Madison County tasting room, about 30 minutes away from Montpelier, or you can have wine shipped to you. Please visit the Current Releases page for more information.

Shenandoah Wine

Supporting the Shenandoah National Park Trust (Annual April release – sells out during the ‘hiking season’)

We are excited to release Shenandoah, a special new, limited edition DuCard wine. The label depicts White Oak Canyon and Falls, just around the corner from DuCard, in the style of 1930’s era posters that were commissioned for the western National Parks. We are pleased to have obtained the exclusive rights to use this iconic image from former park ranger and longtime enthusiast Doug Leen.

DuCard will donate a portion of the sales to the Shenandoah National Park Trust, and will provide wine to the Trust in support of its fundraising activities. Through a wide range of nonprofit programs and activities, the Trust helps ensure that Shenandoah National Park remains a crown jewel of the National Park Service, an economic driver for our region, and a national treasure for all to enjoy for generations to come. Visit www.snptrust.org to learn about the Trust’s work and why we are delighted to support them.

Shenandoah is a slightly sweet white wine consisting primarily of Traminette grapes from a partner grower in the Shenandoah Valley. Stainless steel fermented and aged on fine lees for 3 months, it delights with aromas of peach, ripe apricot and a background of lychee, with a rich mid palate and medium acidity. This wine should be enjoyed chilled at approx. 45°f and will pair nicely with summer salads with balsamic vinaigrette or slightly spicy foods.

Shenandoah is also a terrific refresher on the DuCard patio, overlooking Shenandoah National Park, after a hike at White Oak Canyon! (approximately 100 cases made annually).

The Shenandoah wine is available at our Madison County tasting room, or you can have it  shipped to you. Please visit the Current Releases page for more information.

Here is a local newspaper article celebrating the release of our initial vintage of the Shenandoah wine.

Live Arts

We are proud to support our local arts community! In years past, we have offered special label wines exclusively to supporters of Live Arts to help our local artists continue to produce great work for our community.

Sorry, all Live Arts wines are sold out – collectors items!
