Reservations available and recommended (especially for Saturdays). Two hour time blocks, but limits apply only when near capacity. No reservation fee or minimum purchase. Walk-ups accommodated on a space-available basis. Reservations here.
Offerings
Full range of widely spaced seating: at mountain-view tables on back lawn, stream-side deck, under open-air tent and in air-conditioned event room with mountain views.
Featuring full service wine flights, a selection of red or white wines, served in crystal glassware at your table by a friendly and knowledgeable DuCard staff host. An upgraded ‘tasting’ for those who want to sample the range of our offerings. Wine sales by the bottle also available of course,
Outside food permitted, children and dogs welcome (well-behaved please), extensive health and safety policies and procedures in place, including handwashing station at entry for all customers. Please review full list here.
Winter
Winter: seating under tent at well-spaced tables, with tent sides. heaters and fans, plus table seating on the lawns weather permitting, with Solo Stove fire pits and complimentary fleece blankets. NOTE: we do not offer ‘igloos’ – they look cool but we are not confident we can sanitize them adequately to assure your protection.
And, no, we certainly do not charge for fire pits or anything – just not our view of hospitality.
Music on the Patio
Our tradition of local live music on the patio continues, wit an outstanding line up of musicians Saturday afternoons all year long, plus Friday nights and Second Saturday evenings April – October. See full schedule of upcoming events here or by accessing the Calendar tab of our website.
Our uncrowded rural Madison County area has mountains, streams and lots of beautiful views along scenic back roads. Get some peace and quiet relaxation in our unique environment. Sit on our lawns with full service wine flights or bottles to share, and pick up a bottle or three of our award-winning wines to take home.

• Curbside / take out is available at DuCard’s tasting room. Order and pick up bottles during open hours. You do not need to call or email – we will take the order at the front door.

An Award-winning Mountainside Vineyard and Winery
Visit our gorgeous vineyard and winery bordering Shenandoah National Park in Madison County. We’re located just north of Charlottesville, 90 minutes from the DC Beltway and less than two hours from Richmond. We offer estate-grown wines and a friendly, knowledgeable staff providing a memorable and incomparable tasting experience.
We’re a relaxing getaway destination

We offer several wine tasting options
We offer two options for guests:
Wines by the bottle, with a rotating selection of up to a dozen current release wines available at any one time (with our batches wines often sell out during a season). Perfect if you already know what you’d like – or our friendly and experienced staff can help you choose based on discussing with them upon your arrival.
Wine flights, consisting of four wines poured in tall Riedel crystal glassware, served to you while seated at your table, either under our tent or out on our back lawn, Red, white and mixed flights are available. Perfect to get an ‘overview’ of the range of wines we make.
Both of these options are available upon your arrival, whether you have an advance reservation (recommended, as seating is limited, especially on Saturdays) or you are coming on a “walk-up” basis,
Historically, for larger parties (nine or more, including buses) we offer group tastings with a dedicated staff member and a tour of the vineyards and winery (depending on weather), with advance reservations are required. This is not currently available in light of COVID.

We have great events every weekend
There is live music on the patio every Saturday 2:30 -5:30 PM with no cover charge, featuring various singer-songwriters from the area.
From April through October we also offer live music every Friday night 5:30-8:30 PM and on the Second Saturday of each month 6-9 PM with a food truck and a local guest brewery.
We also have a wide variety of special events throughout the year: Oyster Festivals, Holiday Sunday Brunches, Leaf Peep/ Harvest Weekends, Dog Days of Summer, July 4, Father’s Day, Earth Day and many more!
We are an authentic farm winery
DuCard wines are handmade using traditional methods, in our on-site winery, from grapes grown by us at our three local Madison County vineyard sites. This level of Authenticity, which was the norm 10 to 20 years ago as the Virginia wine industry was just getting started, is less common now. But we consider it extremely important both for producing high quality wines that express a sense of ‘place’ or local terroir and also for providing customers with the memorable experience they are increasingly looking for in a country getaway wine tasting.
Our wines are available for tasting and sales exclusively at our tasting room. A limited selection of DuCard wines is available at a few local restaurants, by the glass or bottle at dinnertime, but we are not in any retail stores. Nationwide shipping is also available
