Charlottesville Ballet Grape Stomp
We’re delighted to have an ongoing partnership with the Charlottesville Ballet, a very impressive organization providing great service to our community.
Did you know?
- They serve close to 1,000 students weekly across their various programs, including classes at their studios and involvement with local schools
- They have special programs for older people and those with developmental challenges
- They host of great public programs, including of course The Nutcracker, which marks the official start of the holiday season.
The co-founders, Emily and Sarah, are among the best that our area has to offer, and deserve everyone’s thanks and support.
We have been fortunate from time to time to show our support by sipping a few bottles of wine with them. And, lo and behold, after some discussion about how we process the wine at DuCard, using traditional techniques and a much work being done by hand, the comment was made that “yeah, but I bet you don’t do any of the work by foot … in the Lucille Ball method.” Well, we took that as a challenge and an opportunity, and with their enthusiastic support got two of their prima ballerinas to put a (gentle) stomp to some of our harvest, as you’ll see.
PS they both have a nice pair of toe shoes now hanging in their houses, with prominent grape stains.
All in a day’s work – and play – at DuCard.
