Vertical Tasting
Saturday, January 13 2 PM: Popham Run Red Vertical Tasting. We'll be pouring vintages from our library - 2005 to present - tasting and talking about the effects of that season's weather, vineyard practices and winemaking techinques on the finished wine. This is a really fun event that we do only about once a year. Nibbles accompany the tasting and the small remaining stock of these wines will be available for sale. Limited seating, advance reservations required using this form. $49 per person (Wine Club member discount applies).

Music by the Fireside

Sunday, January 21 3 PM: Our friend and fun local author Tony Vanderwarker will be back to talk about writing, publishing, being mentored by John Grisham and the series of his fun and engaging recent novels, including his latest "I'm not from the South but I got down here as fast as I could." Filled with fabulous vignettes about life here in the Piedmont, Tony will also have autographed copies available (other books too). Saturday, January 27 2-5 PM: Pat Anderson will be joining us. – an Oklahoma-born, Virginia-raised singer-songwriter (http://www.patandersonmusic.com). He’s a roots rocker with a strong affinity for Dylan, Springsteen, and Petty and possessed of the tough-minded country-rock sensibility of Todd Snider as well. Pat has spent a number of years honing his skills in Nashville, TN and we are thrilled to have him share his talents with us here at DuCard Vineyards. No cover.

Saturday, February 3 2-5 PM: Classically trained Addison Liming joins us for an afternoon full of finger-pickin’ guitar work and melodies from a wide variety of genres and decades (https://addisonlimingmusic.com/home). Cheesemaking Class
Saturday, February 10 2 PM: Now here’s a fun Valentine’s activity! What goes better with wine than cheese? Saturday, March 31 12-5 PM: What would Easter be without an Easter Egg hunt? Or maybe a visit by the Easter Bunny? Shenandoah Wine - New Vintage Release Party
Saturday, April 7 11-6 PM: As Spring starts to peek through we find ourselves itching to get out and enjoy it. What better way to do it than to check out the Shenandoah National Park and then visit us for our release of the latest vintage of the namesake wine, Shenandoah. Sunday, April 8 2 PM: Come hear Carole Nash, Ph.D. from JMU discuss the rediscovery of Marcus Buck’s Belmont Vineyard, a 19th century vineyard and winery with origins in the late 1840s. Find out what varieties of grapes were grown, farming practices, physical remains, and stories were rediscovered about this interesting lost vineyard and what it means for our understanding of things today. Saturday, April 14 2-5 PM: Join us for live music on the patio with Annie Stokes who hails from the NoVa/Shenandoah Valley Area (http://www.anniestokesmusic.com/). Spring Oyster Festival
Saturday, April 21, 12-5 PM: Oh yeah! Our Spring Oyster Fest is back! Nomini Bay Oyster Farm (http://nboysters.com/about-us/) will be providing the freshest and most delicious oysters from the Northern Neck: raw, steamed, grilled, and grilled with toppings. We’ll also be offering fresh grilled crab cakes. Throw in some awesome hot licks of country, bluegrass, oldies, and rock & roll of the Bennie Dodd Band and some beautiful mountain and vineyard views, and you have a day made in heaven! Kentucky Derby Party
Saturday, May 5 6:30 PM: Join us at DuCard for the Run for the Roses (get it ... Rose wine ... can't find that accent mark though). We'll broadcast the race live and have some fun and games too. Plus our new Rose 2017 release, and our whole line up of great wines. The Spiked Food Truck will also be serving from 3-7 (somehow appropriate). Don't be late - check the post time. Note: a portion of the proceeds from this event will support two great local groups: the horse rescue services of Hope's Legacy and the local Madison Boys & Girls Club.

Second Saturday Concert and Mother's Day Weekend Plant Sale
Saturday, May 12 12-9 PM: Join us with Mom for Music on the Patio from 6 to 9pm with Scuffletown as we kick off our Second Saturday Concert Series. We will meet in the Shenandoah Room, at farm tables overlooking mountains and vines, and sample a flight of Lindt's premium Excellence line of chocolates. Each chocolate will be paired with a DuCard wine that best complements it. We are delighted that Ann is coming to DuCard specifically for this program. She will share with us the history of chocolate, talk about her work in making Lindt's fine chocolates and offer some samples of 'raw' chocolate for us to try. There’s nothing like a little stargazing on a crisp Fall evening to really appreciate the universe we live in. Come enjoy an informational presentation by CAS followed by some truly awesome stargazing with telescopes in the light-pollution free mountains at DuCard. Steaks 'N Stogies Wine Dinner
Sunday, October 21 6:30 PM: We are hosting an intimate wine dinner to celebrate our local producers of beef, veggies, and other farm favorites and treats, plus Panacea Cigars supplied to us by our friend Ron Barker – who has anointed this event as an Evening of Civilized Indulgences (perhaps a better ring than Steaks ‘N Stogies, but big fun either way). All these great local folks will be there to showcase their provisions and share information about their operations. And of course, DuCard wines will be served with each food course, culminating with Port and cigars (or chocolate cigars, as you wish) while watching the lightning bugs emerging and the bullfrogs calling. An Lár is a fun-loving traditional Irish band playing fast paced tunes - jaunty hornpipes, lilting jigs and full throttle reels alternating with slower tunes - lyrical waltzes and melancholy airs, as well as singing Irish folk ballads of love and adventure. Saturday, December 1 12-6 PM: As the year draws to a close we take this opportunity to say Thank You to all our customers for all your support. We'll have live music by the talented local singer/songwriter Travis Elliott. Travis has a long history of alt-rock and melodic tunes to entertain fans from all over, from 2 to 5pm, merchandise on sale, and special gifts for everyone. Please join us as we raise a toast to you! Wine Club Special Event.
Sunday, December 9 2-4 PM: For Wine Club Members Only. Come meet the owner and winemaker at DuCard and discuss what is happening at the winery, taste the latest DuCard wines, nosh on tasty hors d’ouvres, special music by violinist Greg Childress, and mix and mingle with other wine club members. No fee, but reservations required as space is limited.
